Abstract

The AWU Workshop: Children’s Water Management is a strategy inspired by the structure of a recreational science workshop (RST). This proposal stems from research on visual communication and graphic design as vehicles for facilitating learning and modifying behavior. The objective is to revalue water conservation practices among early primary school children through games that use infographics, providing a playful, practical experience in a contextualized environment, with an emphasis on transforming attitudes and interest in water conservation. The principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Game-Based Learning (GBL) are applied. The children’s interaction with the infographic creation process was observed, using the dimensions of attention, participation, comprehension, attitudes, and collaboration. Four groups of 18 to 24 children, aged 6 to 9, participated. It has been confirmed that playful, hands-on strategies based on infographics and cooperative learning do contribute to a renewed appreciation of attitudes and interests toward water conservation in primary school students. The playful experience of designing an infographic presents a fun challenge for participants, becomes meaningful to their learning, and is reflected in their changed attitudes toward water management.
