Abstract

The research examined the relationship between relational skills and IQ in first-year Psychology students using a non-experimental correlational design. The Relational Skills Index was used to measure relational skills, and the G Factor test was used to evaluate IQ. Fifty-three students, aged between 18 and 26, from a public university participated. The results showed a significant moderate correlation between relational skills and IQ, suggesting that relational skills could influence students’ cognitive and academic development. The discussion of the study highlights the importance of considering relational skills in the educational context. It is suggested that training in relational skills could be an effective strategy to improve students’ cognitive performance.
