A covariation model by comparative actions is presented to examine conditioning phenomena. Contextual conditioning, autoshaping, learned irrelevance and helplessness are examined in order to identify the fulfillment of requirements prescribed by the model. The unfulfillment of one or more requirements may be correlated with absence of conditioning. A successful out come of this analysis suggests that the model of covariation and comparative actions may be a useful tool to describe diverse animal learning situations. As an extension of present model, it should be possible to analyze further cases of animal and human learning.
