Social application problems of interbehavioral psychology disciplinary knowdlege

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze some general difficulties in the application of Interbehavioral Psychology to social problems. To accomplish this purpose, some definitions of basic and applied science, as well as of their relationships, are reviewed first. Secondly, a number of ideal characteristics of the relationship between the basic and applied branches of Interbehavioral Psychology are described as a logical strategy to detect problems, that is to say, situations in which these characteristics are absent. To conclude, an alternative account for the poor capacity of attraction of followers addressed to Interbehaviral Psychology by some authors based exclusively on inherent properties of its theory is offered; our argument intends to remind us that scientific research is immersed in a social, cultural, economic, and political context that powerfully determines it.
